The city walls, which are approximately 7 km long, form a 2.5 square km residential area. It is thought that the city recorded as Pteria in ancient sources is here. Then we see Kerkenes Sülük Lake, which is the subject of legends. According to the legend; when Battal Gazi conquered Kerkenes Castle, his horse's legs were broken and injured near the castle. Battal Gazi dismounts and releases him. The horse reaches a pond with leeches in it. While drinking water, leeches stick to their feet and suck the dirty blood, and the horse's foot heals. It is a magnificent work, a cluster of cities, showing how many civilizations were born and sunk in the surrounding area. According to the findings of archaeologists in Alacahöyük after 100 years of excavations, traces of four cultural ages were found in the mound, from the bottom to the top. Each age is divided into building levels, starting from the foundation and reaching the top of the mound. Each floor consists of works such as palaces, temples, squares, castle walls and city houses of that era.
